DEMO WEBSITE — Solent & Sons is a fictional company. Built by ODUEX to show what your plumbing business could look like.
Upfront pricing

No hidden charges. No surprises. Ever.

The quote is the invoice. It has been since 1987. Every rate we charge is on this page, in plain English — the same page our engineers work from.

Hourly rates

The rates. All of them.
Printed, published, kept.

Most firms make you phone up to hear a price. Ours have been on the wall of the office — and now on this page — for years. What you see below is what lands on the invoice.

All rates per hour, per engineer (demo — illustrative)
When you need us Plumbing Heating Drainage
Weekday 8–6 £96/hr £102/hr £96/hr
Evenings & Saturday £128/hr £134/hr £128/hr
Night & Sunday £165/hr £172/hr £165/hr
First hour in full, then half-hourly.

You never pay for time we're not there. If a job takes ninety minutes, you pay for ninety minutes — not two rounded-up hours. Parts are priced separately and shown to you before they're fitted.

Fixed-price jobs

The jobs we do so often,
the price is already set.

Some jobs we've done thousands of times, so there's no need for an hourly clock at all. One figure, agreed before we start, parts and labour included.

Tap replacement

£120 parts & labour

Kitchen or bathroom, mixer or pillar. Old tap off, new tap on, no drips, area left dry and clean.

Toilet unblock

£95 fixed

Cleared properly, cause explained, and if the blockage sits further down the line we'll tell you before doing anything else.

Radiator swap

£180 labour, like-for-like

Drained, swapped, refilled and bled — with the system checked for cold spots before we pack up.

Boiler install

from £1,950 supply & fit

Three fixed packages, every one priced after a free survey — see below, or the full detail on our boilers page.

All prices demo — illustrative. Fixed prices assume normal access; anything unusual is agreed with you first, in writing.

How we quote

Three steps between
"how much?" and the answer.

01

Look properly

We survey the actual job — pipework, access, water pressure — instead of guessing from a photo. It's why our quotes don't grow later.

02

Price in writing

One figure, itemised, emailed the same day. Parts, labour, VAT — everything in it. Nothing lives in the small print because there isn't any.

03

Price holds

The number on the quote is the number on the invoice. If we misjudged the job, that's our cost to carry — not yours. It has been since 1987.

Price-match promise

Found it cheaper? Show us.

Genuine like-for-like quote from an insured local firm? We'll match it. Bring the written quote to your survey and we'll meet the price — same spec, same parts, same guarantee. What we won't do is quietly make the job smaller to hit a number.

Like-for-like means same parts, same scope, same insurance (demo — illustrative)

Money questions

Asked at most kitchen tables

Not for booked appointments — you pay for the work, not the doorbell. Out-of-hours emergencies carry a fixed call-out from £89, agreed on the phone before anyone sets off, so a 3am decision is still an informed one. (Demo — prices illustrative.)
Yes. Once we've surveyed the job and put the figure in writing, that's what you pay — even if the job takes us longer than planned. The only thing that changes a quote is you changing the job, and we'll re-quote in writing before carrying on.
Either. Every van takes card at the door, bank transfer is on every invoice, and cash gets a printed receipt on the spot. Larger jobs can be split into staged payments agreed up front — never money for work that hasn't happened yet.
Not for day-to-day work — you pay when the job's done and you're happy. Bathrooms and boiler installs take a deposit to order your fittings, typically 20%, held against the itemised quote. The balance is only due on completion.
